Angelic Babies
Posted on January 26, 2010
So, I did this session back in November, maybe even October; however I thought I would share these beautiful angelic baby faces with you. These little girls are just almost like porcelain dolls they are so precious! I’m not going to say it was an easy session because it wasn’t! It was COLD, cold and yes did I mention it was cold. The girls were cold, getting tired and little R was such a trooper for being only a few months old. We took several breaks to warm the babies and I think I got some priceless pics even though A wasn’t so much into smiling in all of them. She was busy with the wagon. ”A” was just all about the wagon and she was so very cute with the wagon and just playing in her own little world. You could almost watch her little vivid imagination as she was talking to the wagon and her baby and pulling them around here and there, over “bumpies”, and through crunchy leaves. They are precious and I hope to be able to capture more pictures for them in the spring. Enjoy these beautiful girls!
First I’ll try and load a few wagon pics-
My Avery’s “Bestest buddy” and her sister “Butterbean”.

So, my friend Kim wanted me to take some pictures of the girls in these beautiful dresses that we picked out one day. We picked them out, just to go with Ansley’s GORGEOUS red hair! So it took us a while to get what we were looking for. Butterbean is ALWAYS on the move and never still, and if you try to sit her down and it’s not her idea, then you’d better watch out, because she just ain’t having it! These girls had me cracking up. You wouldn’t believe what I had to do to get these girls to sit, look natural and laugh or smile. As for Butterbean, we were just happy if she sat for a 3.7 seconds. And if you want to know what kinds of crazy things I do to make kids smile then, well. . . I guess you will have to schedule a session for some good memorable fun!
Here is Frick and Frack, best buddies.
New 2010 Pricing
Posted on January 14, 2010
As of February 2010 SugarSnapp’s updated pricing will go into effect. My session fee is going up due to the value of my time. Not to worry though I will always be affordable and willing to work with you. The updated session fee is $75.00. I know I know big jump; but keep in mind, I do come to you, spend at least an hour and a half per session, and I make it as easy and stress free for you as possible along with providing affordable fine art photographs of your loved ones. For my baby plans, not much will change so don’t fret baby plan clients. If you are already started on a baby plan your price is locked in and you will not be affected until you schedule a session aside from your baby plan.
Here is an article I ran across on professionalchildphotographer.com that I thought would be of interest as to why professional fine art photography costs what it does: (and I am much more affordable than what this article refers to!)
We all know that you can go to the local Walgreen’s and pay a $1.99 for a print – as a client you may wonder why you may pay upwards of $50, $70, $90 for a custom photography print. Photographers hear this statement every once in awhile:
“How in the world can you charge $60 for an 8×10 if it costs me less than $2 to print at x store?”
The truth of the matter is the answer to this question is multifaceted. Much of the cost of a photographic print produced by a professional photographer has a lot to do with the time, equipment costs, artistic vision and reputation of the photographer not to mention expertise and the usual costs of running a legitimate business.
The cost of TIME
Approaching it from a time standpoint, let’s imagine that you have hired a photographer who has work that you love. This photographer is traveling an hour to your destination to photograph your session. Here is an example of a time break down:
- session prep time (30 mins – 1 hour, includes equipment and back up equipment checks + vehicle checks)
- one hour travel time TO session
- 15-30 minutes prep time at client’s home
- 90 minutes-2 hours with client photographing subject
- one hour travel time FROM session
- 30-45 minutes uploading time from digital cards from camera to computer
- 30-45 minutes time spent backing up the original images
- 2-5 hours editing time to present you with a diverse gallery of edited images
- 1 hour prep time getting ready for ordering
- 2-3 hours time with client for ordering images
- 1 hour sorting through and checking order
- 30 minutes-1 hour prep time for delivery
- 30 minutes-1 hour getting order shipped
- any additional phone time or time needed for add on ordering, shipment issues, quality issues
In this example, the time spent per client can range from just under 13 hours to 19 hours – dependent on the photographer’s level of service. This is time dedicated only to ONE session. When the photographer charges $150-$300 for the photo shoot (aka SESSION FEE) you are not just paying for the two hours of session time, you are paying the photographer for 12-19 hours complete time for your session.
A New Year A New Leaf
Posted on January 13, 2010
So, it’s the new year! I have decided to get with the times and start a blog. Yep, it’s about time I educate myself on the simpler things in life such as blogging, everyone does it. I feel like deep down that’s why I haven’t done it yet, because everyone else does it. I like to be different, march to the beat of my own drum. Deep down I am a rule breaker. I don’t like to do what everyone else does.
Over Christmas, I had two feet and an arm in the grave. I was truly sicker than I have ever been in my life and ever want to be. I don’t even remember much of Christmas which is sad, because now I feel like we need to do it all over again. I missed some of my most favorite things of the year, like the smell of scotch tape when I’m wrapping presents(I didn’t wrap one present this year) the smell just isn’t the same when it’s not Christmas, the smell of yummy things baking in my oven, the mess of flour and sugar and other ingredients on my island and my kids helping me bake, the smell of cinnamon and cloves and other Chirstmasy smells like that. But, I have been told that we are set to have another Christmas is just 11 short months, so I guess I will have to wait until then. I just praise God I am feeling much better and that I am breathing. So, no better time than now to start my blog! Here goes!
Baby A is one precious, smiley, chunk of delicious. These photos are a few of my favorite photos from his recent sessions from birth to 6 months-
Here is what he looked like at just days old: My how time flies and how quickly they change! Baby plans are my favorite; I get to see all these precious babies on a regular basis, I get to know so many wonderful families, and I get attached to these babies. All the while developing priceless friendships!
And here he is at around 3 to 4 months:
And at 5 months:
And at 6 months: what a change!
